Our family is so random sometimes. I was reading to my companion the part about how you went to the Energy Days in Price and met Ray, I explained the scar joke, then kept reading to him about the Historical Railroad Museum. We have decided that my family is more weird - I just love it! Thank you for the great update. I have never driven down the shortcut by Putnam Pike. Actually, I remember Mom asking me not to once and so I haven't since then - it was probably just because it was raining. I thought Kaden would like to know, he must be a pretty good driver now. Kolten is finished - wow, time goes so fast! I remember going to his farewell. It appears that I am missing out on more adventures but I am sure more will come.
This Week:
We had a pretty good week. Some things have been working out and other things have fallen through but overall we stayed pretty busy. We started the week with our 4th of July BBQ - it was awesome! I marinated steaks with Montreal and we played American football for my first time since I was with Elder Johnson. It was a lot of fun. We finished today singing the National Anthem and my companion and I really went all out on the gear. We hit up the American store in Panmure called Martha's Backyard and it was 10% off everything for the holiday so that was cool.
We also met a YSA girl this week whose name is Eden. It was Saturday morning and we started talking to her on the street. She was walking and we were walking so, like, yeah. We talked to her for like 30 min. She was a pretty Cook Island girl that lives with her grandparents. They go to the SDA [Seventh Day Adventist] church and she was actually walking to church when we talked to her and she was running late. We were asking her stuff about her church and she expressed that she didn't want to go but she had gone since she was born pretty much so she just kept going. She was 22. She didn't really understand too much about God and didn't seem very dedicated to church and she didn't really even listen when she did go. We apologized a few min after we began talking to her because she was going to be late to church and she said that it was all good as long as she was there before the closing prayer just so everyone could see that she had made an appearance. As we were talking to her I realized how sad that really was, just going to church so other people see you, just so your family won't be mad, and not liking the church. We started explaining what we do as missionaries. She was amazed. In her mind she knew what she liked to be doing with her life and to see a couple of handsome guys like my companion and I doing what we do instead of living the party life was just so amazing to her. We were able to testify that God did love her and that he was reaching out to her. She was definitely feeling the Spirit. It was a good experience we invited her to come to church - she didn't end up coming but I think we will meet up with her again as it seems like I have seen her around a couple times already. She didn't want us to come by the house because her grandparents are so strong in the other church but she was keen on meeting with us again. It was a good experience I really love talking to people our age, it is so much easier.
Love
