Seeing the whole process with Rose has been the greatest experience I have had so far on the mission, you are exactly right Dad. She doesn't like to talk about her old church - from what we can tell she passed off the leadership years ago but was still very good friends with the pastor and other members. She told them she was being baptized into another faith and they haven't come to visit her house since then. We haven't met them and she seems upset about the whole thing. She says that they where just friends but the Mormons feel like a family. So she is happy but disappointed at the same time. Her children live all over Aussie and the Philipines. She has one daughter who lives here in Panmure but she married a Muslim man and converterd to Islam. Rose is not very happy about it. She doesn't want us to meet her daughter because she thinks she wouldn't be very kind. Rose might speak in the next Come & See fireside in March and share her story so we are very excited for that.
Don't worry about me being homesick because I am not, or at least not right now. I do miss In-N-Out burgers but there is delicious food here as well. It might have been Cheyanna that was talking to you, She came to my farewell, I think. I did hear from Rooger but not a whole lot about her farewell so thanks for the update. I can't remember who was serving the Washington Spokane mission from our ward - maybe it was Eric, or John - but there is a family here and there son is serving there too. His name is Elder Folu.
This Week:
First off something kind of cool this week was during Zone Training Meeting. The ZL's informed us that our zone was the highest baptizing zone in the whole mission for the month of January. My district was the highest baptizing district in our zone. I know it isn't all about the numbers but it still felt good.
Elder Toolson is finishing his mission this transfer on the 12. He is an awesome missionary and I am going to miss him. Brother D'sa really loved Elder Toolson and even though he is a member in our ward, he wanted Elder Toolson to come over to have his signature Butter Chicken Curry. It is one of the best curries I have ever had. It was fun to go over and spend some time eating dinner with them. |
I found something that was even better this week than the curry however. It is from a little shop right in the middle of our new area called Pakuranga Pizza. It may appear as a normal pizza place but it might just be a window into the taste of heaven. I give you the Pakuranga Buttered Chicken Pizza whose delicious taste defies all description. This is expensive for us to have all the time so we probably won't eat it that often but still. |
My email was kind of all over the place this week but I hope it made some sense.
Happy Groundhog Day!
