The North was great. I have been transferred. Last transfer felt like a complete waste of time. The sisters are now transferred so they are sussed out. It looks like the new cars should be fun. I am surprised it took you so long to fix the window well - it is refreshing to remember that Dad does make mistakes :) Xoch and Ryan still all good? He is my biggest fan (sorry Swiss). Cabin trip should be exciting, too bad I am missing it. I am so excited for conference - 3 new apostles that's going to be crazy. Karani disappeared I hope she ends up alright. Sorry for not emailing last week. It was a pretty crazy p-day once again. Now that I am back in the city, we don't have to all switch off at the chapel. There are internet cafes here so I should have a lot more time to email again. Glad Kolten is okay, I was praying for him too. There is a lot to cover, especially since I didn't email last week so this one hopefully will make up for it.
Catch Up:
So the first thing I want to talk about is an experience that I was able to have with one of our ZLs up North. His name is Elder Crane. I actually met him at EFY with Preston. Anyways, we went on trade off and went over to one of our investigators in my area. His name is Raymond Cowles. He has a drinking problem that is pretty much the only reason he isn't baptized. We have been trying for ages, he has been taught for about 2 years by the missionaries. His wife and kids are all members. They are probably my favorite family from up North. Anyways we went over to his house to have a lesson but we ended up doing a service project. We helped him kill his big pig. It was awesome. He shot it in the head, it convulsed for a while, while Ray was trying to stab it in the heart. So anyways we washed to blood off it and then the next step is we hang it up and use a blow torch on it, then use knives to scrape of the hair. It smells awful and it pretty disgusting. We then decided to start talking about the word of wisdom just casually.
We covered almost the whole lesson in between interruptions of singeing the hair with a blow torch. It was a really good lesson and Ray seemed to be really into it.
At the end of the lesson ray left the room and told us he only had one more bottle left and then after that one he would be done, cold turkey. We were excited, elder Crane was Super excited. Then Ray proceeded to tell us, it was on the condition that one of us drank the whole bottle. I looked at Elder Crane, he looked at me and then I grabbed the bottle and drank all of it as fast as I could. Ray started laughing and Elder Crane stood there just dumbfounded, staring at me the whole time. Fortunately it was just water. Elder Crane didn't seem to think our joke was funny. He didn't really talk very much for the rest of the trade-off. It was a good way to finish off the North.
I am so excited for this transfer. I previously served in Panmure ward so I am close to home, or at least it feels that way. I was reading a scripture the other day in Helaman 7:2-3. To paraphrase, I went up north, tried to work hard, was pretty much rejected and now return to the land of my birth :) Beautiful Panmure zone. GI ward should be exciting, there is a lot of work here and Elder Smith, Elder Crichton and I are planning on going full out. I am ready to work. I have had enough of wasting my time.
Love,
Elder Summers
